Where did it all go wrong?

Posted by Jefferson Scott on May 21, 2012 at 8:45 AM

In the end, FC Torrevieja missed the play offs by five points, Alzira claiming fourth spot with 79 points. Had we secured the same number, then we would have qualified for the promotion matches by virtue of having a better head to head with them. Where did it all go wrong? On reflection, it is easy to see where we threw away valuable points, which could have proven deliriously delightful.

Let us take them chronologically and ask ourselves, why did we not capture those five ...

Flying the flag for Group 6

Posted by Jefferson Scott on May 15, 2012 at 3:00 AM

Good luck to John Clarkson and his lads who play group 3 winners Noja in the first leg of the  champions play off matches this weekend. Catarroja are home at the Mundial 82 this Saturday and will be hoping to take a good advantage to the away tie the following weekend.

John will want to make 2B at the first time of asking, so he and his overworked players can then take a well deserved rest until organising for the new season at a higher level. Should Noja triumph,...

Out with the Old, in with the New

On his final game for FC Torrevieja, Corcoles is given a guard of honour on to the pitch

Forty year old Corcoles bade an emotional farewell, signing off with a goal, in the final match of the season against already relegated Mislata. He was replaced on 55 minutes by 15 year old cadete player, Angel Damian Aguero, who did not look out of place in the lineup, almost...

Bitter pill - but nice ice cream!

The

The crowds came, the hit music urged joy and confidence and we watched an important game of football that was end to end and filled with passion and desire. Despite the usual glutch of bookings, there was just about one bad tackle in the game, when Juande was chopped down close to the home dugout in the second half and a mass of bodies threatene...

Knee up the hole

Posted by Jefferson Scott on April 24, 2012 at 3:25 PM

Once a low life, always a low life. Anyone who did not have the farm on Barca to beat the wife cheating, tour cash grabbing millionaires had little concept of the beautiful game. It is not yet half time, but Barca will win, of that there is little doubt. In fact, as I write the little man has just scored. Not not Messi, but the other little man, Iniesta. Bit like Rammy's goal on Sunday - a little.

Wow, what a goal from Ranires - I wa not expecting that. Well he is Brazilian...

No,no,no,no.no!!!!!

Posted by Jefferson Scott on April 24, 2012 at 7:15 AM

I have a stream of negatives to get off my chest. My chest is not what it used to be and there simply is no capacity to withstand burdens of any description. Anyway, they say a problem shared is a problem solved (do they really? - never worked for me)

1. My first no is simple. No team this season has done the "double" over Catarroja. So what, were not we the first (of only 2 sides, Alzira the other) to defeat them at the Mudial 82 this term?

2. No, numero...

Are we human, or are we dancer?

Posted by Jefferson Scott on April 23, 2012 at 6:10 PM

If you are a fan of FC Torrevieja, then your heart will be filled with pride and joy. The boys went to Alzira on Sunday and any "missing" fan for the last few months would have said "why have they left out the stars"? There was no Carrasco, no Prior, no Petu, no Nico, no Christian Mendez, no Cristian Vidal, no Munoz. and no Corella.  Damn there was wasn't even a Corky in the line up!

Youngsters were the order of the day, Manolo (say his name soft and low and it's like ...

Make or break?

Posted by Jefferson Scott on April 20, 2012 at 10:10 AM

Abel is carrying an injury. Paul Mahony wrecked Vicente in training on Wednesday night and he did not train on Thursday. Victor looks like he is on the easy list and I am entering frantic panic mode as this weekend's matches bear down on me like a hungry bear in the wild - the one who looks like he will eat me then use me as his lavatorial convenience.

No less than six matches on Saturday and a couple that could break our hearts. Catarroja host Muro and I don't know what wo...

Slim, but still hanging in there

Posted by Jefferson Scott on April 17, 2012 at 8:30 AM

Mathmatically Torry could still end up the season above current league leaders Catarroja - with only four matches remaining! Sounds both encouraging and unlikely in even measures. But if we beat them at home (as we did away) and they lose their other three, whilst we win our other three, then that's the outcome! Stranger things have happened (I think).

First off though, we need to win at Alzira, whilst Muro need to beat John Clarkson's boys at the Mundial 82. As a...
